I've been hoping that one of these mid-August cold frontal passages would provide a good storm or two to chase but so far...nada. Today's setup looked decent yesterday but the current short term models don't hold out much hope for significant convection in my neck of the woods. The last three SPC Day 1 convective outlooks have steadily moved a Slight Risk zone away from our area.
On top of that the Blacksburg NWS radar is down hard and won't be back in service until tomorrow afternoon, thus rendering any chasing I may attempt today back to my early days using just a weather radio and the Mark 1 eyeball. On the whole I'd say my odds of seeing a chaseable storm today are slim to none...but stranger things have happened in the past!
