Typical April non-chase weather

After squeezing in one March chase the first half of April is lining up to be a typical storm chase denial month. I've had this happen several times before here in northern Virginia, scoring a productive chase or two in March and then being pretty much shut out by a pattern change in April. Either a long wave trough sets up over the East Coast and keeps us in a cool and dry regime (per the present setup) or cold air damming rears its ugly head and suppresses any storms that even think about rolling north of Interstate 64.
Either way April tends to be a chasing disappointment here in the northern half of the Old Dominion...but (a) the month isn't over, (b) soon I'll be doing more chasing in the southern part of the state, and (c) I'll be heading west on the Hokie Stormchase in May!!
