Still waiting for storms

I still haven't kicked off the 2012 Virginia storm chase season mainly because I haven't found anything to chase! The current summer-like pattern is not conducive to strong storms, and even the ones that I originally thought might fire this afternoon seem to have been suppressed behind the passage of this morning's MCS. Thus I'm reduced to looking wistfully at radar and satellite images while wondering when we'll see any storms.

This weekend may herald the passage of an upper level cutoff low pressure system, which could bring about some storms. Other than that potential the pattern doesn't look to change anytime soon and that doesn't make this chaser very happy...
