Getting closer!

SPC has a slight risk for tomorrow's East Coast storm creeping into coastal NC. Granted that we have several more weeks of winter to go, but can Virginia spring storm chasing be far away?

California tornado

Wow, can the Mid-Atlantic chase season be far behind?

"1257 PM TORNADO HUNTINGTON BEA 33.69N 118.01W
01/19/2010 ORANGE CA PUBLIC

TORNADO SPOTTED ON PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY JUST SOUTH OF
ANDERSON STREET. THE FUNNEL CROSSED THE HIGHWAY AND
HEADED NE. A BLACK LIMO WAS LIFTED UP AND AN SUV WAS
FLIPPED AND THROWN INTO A TREE. DOWNED TREES AND ROOF
DAMAGE WERE ALSO SEEN IN THE AREA. "

Only in Southern California would a tornado report include both
a limo and an SUV!

2009 storm chase writeup...published!

Finally got it done. Click on the badge in the right column to get to this pictorial walk through of the 2009 chase season both here in Virginia and in Tornado Alley. I just ordered my proof copy and I still reserve the right to make changes if the print version doesn't look like I want it to.
Now, I'm ready for the 2010 season to begin!!

2009 chase writeup

I'm still plugging away at my 2009 chase photo book, aiming to upload the manuscript to Blurb.com before the 2010 season starts (e.g. by mid-March). I've finished with the first photographic run-thru of the season's chases and I now need to read through the limited amount of text to see if it all hangs together. Then I need to pick the photos that will grace the cover and other assorted pages, followed by a final review of the layout. I really need an editor!
As far as chasing goes, unless I want to chase snow showers I don't have a prayer of getting out in the next several weeks. Oh well!
