2008 is blowin' in the wind

Wow! When we left the Myrtle Beach area this morning a breeze was blowing lightly, but before we reached I-95 in South Carolina the northwest gales had arrived. It made for an interesting drive northward, not to mention reducing our gas mileage as I had to keep the gas pedal down to keep the speed up. After passing open spots along the tree-lined interstate I watched in the rear view mirror as those following me did the same dance I had just performed, quickly adjusting to the strong gusts. Right now the local airport is reporting constant windspeeds of 28 mph, gusting to 37, but some prior readings were up to 33 mph gusting to 53. In addition the dewpoint is down to 12 degrees F, generating a "Red Flag" warning for heightened fire danger. Is this a case of 2008 going out like a lion, meaning 2009 will come in like a lamb?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
